The Train Engineer born 1962 in Hambach, Pfalz, no traceable military career, 1981-84 student at the Mannheim Music College, since 1984 principal tuba player with the Rheinland-Pfalz State Philharmonic. Ralf is the only member of the ensemble, going on two tracks professionally. Besides the tuba, he has a passion for old steam locomotives. He was not just satisfied though, with collecting pictures and an occasional visit to a museum. There was no other choice than to complete the training to be a steam locomotive driver - and now, in his spare time, he steers these hissing monsters through the Elmstein valley. Ralf's tailored arrangements also have had a decisive influence on the sound of the Rennquintett.
